On Tuesday morning, 2K released its first official gameplay trailer for NBA 2K19, and I was able to grab 25 screenshots from the video.
This isn’t the nuts and bolts raw gameplay that many fans will want to see of the game, but it does provide the first real footage of action from NBA 2K19. The trailer is called “Take the Crown,” and Jay Rock provides the soundtrack for the video.
There are a variety of players featured in the trailer including the cover athletes: LeBron James (20th Anniversary Edition), Giannis Antetokounmpo (Standard Edition), and Ben Simmons (Australian Edition), and the rest of the Team 2K members.
I thought it was interesting to see James Harden in the trailer just one year removed from the NBA Live cover.
Usually, NBA Live cover athletes aren’t featured in NBA 2K trailers–at least not prominently. It wouldn’t surprise me if Harden has already been chosen as the cover athlete for the standard edition of NBA 2K20. I’m fully expecting–and hoping–to see Allen Iverson return as the man on the cover of the special edition.
At any rate, here is a look at the screenshots pulled from the trailer:
Stay tuned for a more comprehensive breakdown of the trailer and some of the small tidbits we can take from this preview. NBA 2K19 releases for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC on September 11. Customers who pre-order the game can get it on September 7.
The Prelude demo is also returning this year. It will be available on August 31 for the PS4 and Xbox One only. Keep an eye out for Director of Brand Culture & Consumer Engagement Ronnie Singh, aka Ronnie 2K’s Instagram stories.
There’s almost always a few clues about the upcoming release there.
